STATEN ISLAND DOULAS

Premium doula support, from St. George to Tottenville.

Premium birth and postpartum doula care for Staten Island families.

Forever Doula provides certified birth and postpartum doulas to families all across Staten Island. Maybe you're preparing to deliver at Staten Island University Hospital or Richmond University Medical Center. Maybe you're planning a home birth. Or maybe your sweet baby is already here and you haven't slept more than two hours in a row since (we see you, mama!). Wherever you are in your journey, we've got you covered.

We're based in Sayreville, NJ, just over the Outerbridge Crossing, so Staten Island is practically our backyard. Our founder, Sarah Comis, has been a doula since 2015, and Staten Island families have trusted her with some of the most important days of their lives. Today our team of certified doulas has supported more than 375 families, and every one of them gets the same thing: premium care, no judgment, and a team that's in your corner for good.

Your birth, your way! Whether you're hoping for an unmedicated birth, planning on an epidural, scheduled for a c-section or preparing for a VBAC, your doula is there to help you reach your goals, with no pressure and no judgment.

Our doulas support births at Staten Island's labor and delivery units:

  • Staten Island University Hospital North, at the Gruppuso Family Women & Newborn Center on Seaview Avenue in Ocean Breeze

We also support home births anywhere on the island. And if you're delivering in Manhattan, Brooklyn or New Jersey, no problem. We'll meet you there!

Every hospital has its own rules about support people in the delivery room, so we'll go over your hospital's policies with you well before your due date. No surprises on the big day.

postpartum doulas on STATEN ISLAND

You brought your baby home. Now what? Those first weeks are beautiful, but they can also be exhausting (and a little scary, especially if it's your first). That's exactly why we're here.

Overnight newborn care. Our overnight postpartum doulas, sometimes called a "night nurse" or "night nanny," arrive in the evening and gently care for your baby through the night while you sleep. When it's time to eat, your doula brings baby to you to nurse or gives a bottle while you keep resting. She handles the diapers, the burping, the swaddling and the soothing, and in the morning she fills you in on the whole night over your first cup of coffee. Expecting twins or multiples? Our overnight doulas care for them too.

Daytime support. Daytime visits usually last 4 to 6 hours. Your doula can help with breastfeeding or bottle feeding, your recovery (including recovery from a c-section), baby baths and swaddling, light meals, baby laundry and all of those time-hogging tasks that pile up. Most importantly, she makes time for you to rest, shower and enjoy your sweet baby.

Curious what it costs? Our overnight and daytime care is billed by the hour, with lower rates when you book more time. You'll find current rates on our Postpartum Support page, and our guide How Much Does a Doula Cost in NJ and NYC? walks you through everything.

A Childbirth Class in Your Staten Island Home

No crossing the bridge, no packed classroom, and no trying to hear the instructor from the back row. Our 3-in-1 Childbirth Education Class comes right to your living room!

In a private, 6-hour class, you and your partner will learn about labor and birth, breastfeeding, and caring for your newborn and yourself after baby arrives. It's taught by Sarah Comis, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, and it moves at your pace, with plenty of time for all of your questions. By the end, you'll feel ready. You've got this!

What Staten Island Families Say About Forever Doula

"Sarah was my doula for the birth of my 2nd baby and will be assisting me for my next baby. She is passionate about natural birth and even more passionate about helping and advocating for women... I had a friend and advocate to help me through some very difficult moments; Sarah was present, comforting and always in my corner."

The Millen Family • Birth Doula Support in Staten Island, NY

"For me, Sarah is much more than a doula. Sarah has been by my side since the beginning of my pregnancy with compassion and wisdom... Pregnancy is not easy but when you have a doula, especially one like Sarah, it is such a blessing."

The Roman Family • Birth Doula Support in Staten Island, NY

"Sarah was my birth doula. She not only equipped me with all the knowledge I needed, she also eased my mind during labor and held my hand every step of the way. I ended up having to have a c-section, but in recovery Sarah was right there lending her helping hand... I 100% think my birth was less traumatic because Sarah was there every step of the way with me."
