BROOKLYN DOULAS
Premium doula support, from Greenpoint to Coney Island
Premium birth and postpartum doula care for Brooklyn families.
Forever Doula provides certified birth and postpartum doulas to families all over Brooklyn. Maybe you're getting ready to deliver at NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist, NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn or Maimonides. Maybe your sweet baby is already home, whether that's a brownstone in Park Slope, a walk-up in Bushwick or a house in Bay Ridge, and you honestly can't remember the last time you finished a cup of coffee while it was still hot (we see you, mama!). Wherever you are in your journey, we've got you covered.
We're based in Sayreville, NJ, and we support families all across New York City. Our founder, Sarah Comis, has been a doula since 2015, and our team of certified doulas has supported more than 375 families. Every one of them gets the same thing: premium care, no judgment, and a team that's in your corner for good.
birth doulas in BROOKLYN
Your birth, your way! Natural, medicated, a planned c-section or a VBAC: whatever your plan is, your doula is there to help you reach your goals, with no pressure and no judgment.
Brooklyn has some wonderful hospitals, and your doula will meet you at any of them: NewYork-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist in Park Slope, NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn in Sunset Park, Maimonides Medical Center in Borough Park (home to Brooklyn's largest NICU), NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County in East Flatbush, Woodhull on Broadway, and more.
Good news: New York State law gives you the right to have your doula with you during childbirth and your hospital stay afterward. Each hospital still sets its own rules about how many people can join you in the room, so we'll go over your hospital's policies with you well before your due date. No surprises on the big day!
Planning a home birth instead? No problem. We'll meet you wherever you plan to deliver!
Here's what birth doula support includes…
Prenatal visits to map out your birth plan and practice comfort techniques, with your partner right there with you
Continuous, hands-on support from active labor until your baby is in your arms
Help with your baby's very first latch
Text, email and phone support from the day you hire us
24/7 on-call support starting 2 weeks before your due date

postpartum doulas in BROOKLYN
Who says you have to do this alone? Brownstone stairs, a fifth-floor walk-up, a stroller that barely fits through the front door: our postpartum doulas have seen it all. They come right to your door, so you can rest, recover and actually enjoy those first weeks with your baby.
Overnight newborn care. Being a mom is amazing, but being a well-rested mom is simply magical. Your overnight doula (you might hear "night doula," "night nurse" or "night nanny") arrives in the evening and takes the night shift. She brings baby to you when it's time to nurse, or handles the bottle while you keep sleeping. She takes care of the diapers, the burping and the soothing, washes the bottles and pump parts, and in the morning she walks you through the whole night.
Expecting twins? Our overnight doulas care for twins and multiples too, so every baby is fed, changed and settled while you get the sleep you need.
Daytime support. Daytime visits usually last 4 to 6 hours. Your doula can help with feeding (breast, bottle or both), baby baths and swaddling, your recovery (including after a c-section), light meals and baby laundry. Heading back to work soon? She can help you build a feeding and sleep routine that works for your whole family.
Our overnight and daytime care is billed by the hour, with lower rates when you book more time. You'll find current rates on our Postpartum Support page, and our guide How Much Does a Doula Cost in NJ and NYC? explains it all.
A Childbirth Class in Your Brooklyn Home
Skip the crowded hospital classroom (and the hunt for a parking spot on alternate-side day). Our 3-in-1 Childbirth Education Class happens right in your own living room!
In one private, 6-hour class, you and your partner will learn what to expect in labor and birth, how to get breastfeeding off to a great start, and how to care for your newborn (and yourself) once you're home. Expecting twins? We cover twin births, too. It's all taught by Sarah Comis, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, at your pace and with plenty of time for every question on your list. By the time you're done, you'll be a pro. You've got this!

What Families Say About Forever Doula
Sarah was a lifesaver, quickly putting together a team of doulas to help us out at the last minute. They were all amazing and helped us get some rest in the first few months of the baby. I would highly recommend working with Sarah if you can. The support was so valuable at such a vulnerable time for our family.

Not in New York! State law (Public Health Law § 2500-m) says a hospital can't deny you access to the doula you choose during childbirth and your hospital stay afterward. The only exceptions are emergencies or situations where someone's safety is at risk. Hospitals do still set their own rules about how many people can be in the room, so we'll go over yours together before your due date.
-
Absolutely! Whether your c-section is planned or a change of plans, your doula helps you prepare, keeps you calm and informed, and supports your partner too. Many hospitals allow only one support person in the operating room, so your doula may wait just outside, then join you in recovery to help with skin-to-skin and that very first latch. Once you're home, our postpartum doulas can help you rest and heal.

As early as you'd like! Your investment is the same whether you book early or late, but booking early means months of support instead of weeks. Read more in When to Hire a Doula.
