MIDDLESEX COUNTY DOULAS
Premium doula support, from Carteret to Cranbury
Premium birth and postpartum doula care for Middlesex County families.
Forever Doula provides certified birth and postpartum doulas to families all across Middlesex County. Maybe you're getting ready to deliver at Saint Peter's or Robert Wood Johnson in New Brunswick, or at JFK in Edison. Maybe your sweet baby is already home, whether that's a townhouse in Edison, a colonial in East Brunswick or a cape in Old Bridge, and you've started measuring sleep in minutes instead of hours (we see you, mama!). Wherever you are in your journey, we've got you covered.
Middlesex County is home for us. Forever Doula is based right here in Sayreville, and our founder, Sarah Comis, has been a doula since 2015. Our team of certified doulas has supported more than 375 families, and every one of them gets the same thing: premium care, no judgment, and a team that's in your corner for good. (When we say we're local, we mean it. We're probably sitting in the same Route 9 traffic you are!)
birth doulas in MIDDLESEX COUNTY
Your birth, your way! Natural, medicated, a planned c-section or a VBAC: whatever your plan is, your doula is there to help you reach your goals, with no pressure and no judgment.
Middlesex County families have wonderful hospitals to choose from, and your doula will meet you at any of them: Saint Peter's University Hospital in New Brunswick (home of the Mary V. O'Shea Birth Center, the first birth center in New Jersey on a hospital's grounds), Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, JFK University Medical Center in Edison, Raritan Bay Medical Center in Perth Amboy and Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center in Plainsboro.
Even better, New Jersey law requires every hospital and birthing center to have a policy that lets doulas be with you before, during and after birth. Each hospital sets its own details, like how many people can join you in the room, so we'll go over your hospital's policy with you well before your due date. No surprises on the big day!
Planning a home birth instead? No problem. We'll meet you wherever you plan to deliver!
Here's what birth doula support includes…
Prenatal visits to map out your birth plan and practice comfort techniques, with your partner right there with you
Continuous, hands-on support from active labor until your baby is in your arms
Help with your baby's very first latch
Text, email and phone support from the day you hire us
24/7 on-call support starting 2 weeks before your due date
An in-home postpartum visit a few days after birth
postpartum doulas in MIDDLESEX COUNTY
Who says you have to do this alone? Whether you're in a split-level in Edison, a new build in Monroe or a condo in Woodbridge, our postpartum doulas come right to your door, so you can rest, recover and actually enjoy those first weeks with your baby. And since Middlesex County is home for us, help is never far away.
Overnight newborn care. Being a mom is amazing, but being a well-rested mom is simply magical. Your overnight doula (you might hear "night doula," "night nurse" or "night nanny") arrives in the evening and takes the night shift. She brings baby to you when it's time to nurse, or handles the bottle while you keep sleeping. She takes care of the diapers, the burping and the soothing, washes the bottles and pump parts, and in the morning she walks you through the whole night.
Expecting twins? Our overnight doulas care for twins and multiples too, so every baby is fed, changed and settled while you get the sleep you need.
Daytime support. Daytime visits usually last 4 to 6 hours. Your doula can help with feeding (breast, bottle or both), baby baths and swaddling, your recovery (including after a c-section), light meals and baby laundry. Getting ready to go back to work (and back to that Turnpike commute)? She can help you build a feeding and sleep routine that works for your whole family.
Our overnight and daytime care is billed by the hour, with lower rates when you book more time. You'll find current rates on our Postpartum Support page, and our guide How Much Does a Doula Cost in NJ and NYC? explains it all.
A Childbirth Class in Your Middlesex County Home
Skip the crowded hospital classroom (and the Route 18 traffic to get there). Our 3-in-1 Childbirth Education Class happens right in your own living room!
In one private, 6-hour class, you and your partner will learn what to expect in labor and birth, how to get breastfeeding off to a great start, and how to care for your newborn (and yourself) once you're home. Expecting twins? We cover twin births, too. It's all taught by Sarah Comis, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, at your pace and with plenty of time for every question on your list. By the time you're done, you'll be a pro. You've got this!

Yes! A New Jersey law signed in January 2024 (S-4119/A-5739) requires every hospital and birthing center in the state to have a policy that lets doulas accompany patients before, during and after labor and birth, and to name a staff contact for doulas. Each hospital's policy sets the details, like how many people can be in the room (or the operating room, for a c-section), so we'll go over yours together before your due date.
