MANHATTAN DOULAS
Premium doula support, from Inwood to the Battery
Premium birth and postpartum doula care for Manhattan families.
Forever Doula provides certified birth and postpartum doulas to families all over Manhattan. Maybe you're getting ready to deliver at NYU Langone, Mount Sinai or Lenox Hill. Maybe your sweet baby is already home, whether that's a doorman building on the Upper East Side, a walk-up in the East Village or a loft in Tribeca, and you're learning that the city that never sleeps has nothing on a newborn (we see you, mama!). Wherever you are in your journey, we've got you covered.
We're based in Sayreville, NJ, and we support families all across New York City. Our founder, Sarah Comis, has been a doula since 2015, and our team of certified doulas has supported more than 375 families. Every one of them gets the same thing: premium care, no judgment, and a team that's in your corner for good.
birth doulas in MANHATTAN
Your birth, your way! Natural, medicated, a planned c-section or a VBAC: whatever your plan is, your doula is there to help you reach your goals, with no pressure and no judgment.
Manhattan families have a lot of great hospitals to choose from, and your doula will meet you at any of them: NYU Langone's Tisch Hospital in Kips Bay, Lenox Hill and NewYork-Presbyterian's Alexandra Cohen Hospital for Women and Newborns on the Upper East Side, The Mount Sinai Hospital across from Central Park, Mount Sinai West near Columbus Circle, NewYork-Presbyterian's Sloane Hospital for Women up in Washington Heights, and more.
Manhattan hospitals are used to working with doulas, but each one sets its own rules about how many support people can join you in the delivery room. We'll go over your hospital's policies with you well before your due date, so there are no surprises on the big day.
Planning a home birth instead? No problem. We'll meet you wherever you plan to deliver!

postpartum doulas in MANHATTAN
Who says you have to do this alone? Tiny kitchen, stroller parked by the door, neighbors on the other side of a very thin wall: our postpartum doulas know city living. They come right to your door, so you can rest, recover and actually enjoy those first weeks with your baby.
Overnight newborn care. Being a mom is amazing, but being a well-rested mom is simply magical. Your overnight doula (you might hear "night doula," "night nurse" or "night nanny") arrives in the evening and takes the night shift. She brings baby to you when it's time to nurse, or handles the bottle while you keep sleeping. She takes care of the diapers, the burping and the soothing, washes the bottles and pump parts, and in the morning she walks you through the whole night.
Expecting twins? Two babies in one Manhattan apartment is a whole lot of love in a small space. Our overnight doulas care for twins and multiples too, keeping both babies fed, changed and settled (and keeping track of who ate when), so you can actually get some sleep.
Daytime support. Daytime visits usually last 4 to 6 hours. Your doula can help with feeding (breast, bottle or both), baby baths and swaddling, your recovery (including after a c-section), light meals and baby laundry. Heading back to the office soon? She can help you build a feeding and sleep routine that works for your whole family.
Our overnight and daytime care is billed by the hour, with lower rates when you book more time. You'll find current rates on our Postpartum Support page, and our guide How Much Does a Doula Cost in NJ and NYC? explains it all.
A Childbirth Class in Your Manhattan Home
Skip the crowded hospital classroom (and the crosstown trip to get there). Our 3-in-1 Childbirth Education Class happens right in your own living room, even if your living room is also your dining room and your home office!
In one private, 6-hour class, you and your partner will learn what to expect in labor and birth, how to get breastfeeding off to a great start, and how to care for your newborn (and yourself) once you're home. Expecting twins? We cover twin births, too. It's all taught by Sarah Comis, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, at your pace and with plenty of time for every question on your list. By the time you're done, you'll be a pro. You've got this!

The Rodriguez Family • Birth Doula Support in Manhattan, NYC
I could not have survived those first few weeks without Nicole. As a first time mom in Manhattan with a newborn who rarely slept, her overnight postpartum support was a complete game changer. She took over the night feedings and diaper changes and somehow soothed our baby when nothing else worked. Knowing she was there let my husband and me finally sleep in our own bed.
Nicole is calm, knowledgeable, and incredibly kind. She never made us feel judged and always offered gentle advice. By morning the apartment felt peaceful instead of chaotic. If you are in Manhattan and need real overnight help after having a baby, book Nicole. She made an exhausting time so much more manageable and we are so grateful we found her.
