Many Jersey City families deliver at Jersey City Medical Center on Grand Street, part of RWJBarnabas Health. It's a Level III Regional Perinatal Center, and its maternity team welcomes trained doulas as part of your support team. We'll go over the hospital's policies with you well before your due date, so there are no surprises on the big day.
Delivering somewhere else? Plenty of Jersey City families give birth just across the Hudson in Manhattan or elsewhere in Hudson County, and some choose to have their baby at home. No problem. We'll meet you wherever you plan to deliver!

Who says you have to do this alone? Whether you're in a fourth-floor walk-up or a doorman building on the waterfront, our postpartum doulas come right to your door, so you can rest, recover and actually enjoy those first weeks with your baby.
Overnight newborn care. Being a mom is amazing, but being a well-rested mom is simply magical. Your overnight doula (sometimes called a "night nurse" or "night nanny") arrives in the evening and takes the night shift. She brings baby to you when it's time to nurse, or handles the bottle while you keep sleeping. She takes care of the diapers, the burping and the soothing, washes the bottles and pump parts, and in the morning she walks you through the whole night. Expecting twins or multiples? Our overnight doulas care for twins and multiples too.
Daytime support. Daytime visits usually last 4 to 6 hours. Your doula can help with feeding (breast, bottle or both), baby baths and swaddling, your recovery (including after a c-section), light meals and baby laundry. And if you're getting ready to head back to work, she can help you build a feeding and sleep routine that works for your whole family.

A Childbirth Class in Your Jersey City Home
Skip the crowded hospital classroom and the hunt for parking. Our 3-in-1 Childbirth Education Class happens right in your own living room!
In one private, 6-hour class, you and your partner will learn what to expect in labor and birth, how to get breastfeeding off to a great start, and how to care for your newborn (and yourself) once you're home. It's taught by Sarah Comis, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and Spinning Babies Certified Parent Educator, at your pace and with plenty of time for every question on your list. We also serve all of the nearby towns, including Hoboken, Bayonne, Union City, Weehawken and North Bergen.

Many of our Jersey City families deliver at Jersey City Medical Center (355 Grand Street). We also support births at hospitals across Hudson County and in Manhattan, as well as home births.

Absolutely. We serve New York City too, so if you're crossing the river to have your baby, your doula will meet you there. Every hospital has its own rules about support people, so we'll go over yours together before your due date.
